Program Overview

The new Digifilm Minor marks a major expansion of the film production program in the Claire Trevor School of the Arts and recognizes the importance of filmmaking in every discipline. With the growing demand of online digital content, the Digifilm minor offers students in all areas advanced filmmaking skills.

The Digital Filmmaking Program in the Department of Art has developed a comprehensive filmmaking program which brings a creative approach and filmmaking skills to the entire campus. DigiFilm is the premiere film production hub for digital filmmaking at UC Irvine. Our in-depth, systematic study includes Pre-Production, Production, and Post-Production courses that develop organizational skills and technical knowledge. The Issues/History courses focus on the study of important experimental film and video works that are critical to the development of film & digital filmmaking.  Advanced Projects courses challenge students to put critical thinking and technical skill into action through the creation of original film & video works. Through our curriculum we present a model of what it means to be a working film artist, and we believe in the quality of the students we produce.
